Publishing Model
What type of publisher are we?
Library Publishing House is a nontraditional publishing company. We function as a publishing house. As your publisher, this means that we assume the responsibility of publishing your manuscript from formatting, editing for errors, designing your book cover, and facilitating distribution of your book to major retailers. We are literary-focused and carefully curate the books we publish based on literary merit, writing quality, and the author’s goals. We are also very open to memoirs and other books that chronicle a life story or journey, in addition to fiction and other nonfiction works.
We publish all genres, from literary fiction, fantasy, thrillers, crime, suspense, romance, memoirs, biographies, science, philosophy, text books, children’s books, other nonfiction titles, and more.
For nearly a decade we have published notable authors and books, maintained a client list of dedicated authors who trust our vast knowledge, experience, and integrity. We bring our positive client history with us to our newly relaunched publishing company, Library Publishing House.
As a nontraditional publishing company, we do not believe that antiquated financial models serve as the gold standard for publishing a book, where a small advance is paid to the author, and the author does not earn royalties until it earns out (i.e. the publisher is paid back for its investment first.) Here’s why our model is the best: Old traditional models sometimes pay a small advance (which is similar to a short-term loan or early payment on royalties) to the author as part of their initial investment. They retain 85-95% of your royalties until the advance and publishing costs are recouped. If the book fails to earn the advance back, the author will not be paid royalties. The book must “earn out.” The traditional publisher maintains control of the intellectual property for the duration of the contract. Traditional publishers reject majority of their submissions (roughly only 1% of books are approved) as they do not want to take a risk on an author or a book that may fail to earn out or pay them back. They receive tens of thousands of submissons that are often ignored.
However, the industry has changed over the years. Our model is different. Your royalties are paid directly to you from the start. We do not collect any of your royalties. Authors retain 100% of their publishing, distribution, and copyright. The author is the sole beneficiary of their talent and success.
Our authors believe in themselves, and back the quality of their work. We believe in you too.
We do not act as industry gatekeepers who deny authors an opportunity to see their manuscript published based on arbitrary “risks” because our primary objective is to bring a library of great books to the public. This means we publish artful literary works that may be commercially viable as well as books that fall into niche specialty genres.
